Her Honor Mentoring was developed by Nicole Sheindlin and Judith Sheindlin, as an innovative and pragmatic way to boost self confidence in young women at the workplace and everyday life.
2006:
Nicole Sheindlin founded Her Honor Mentoring with the backing of Judith Sheindlin. The two partnered with the Westchester County Office for Women to provide administrative support for their program.
2007:
Mamaroneck High School was chosen as the pilot school for Her Honor Mentoring. The first class of mentees consisted of 8 high school students paired with 8 local professional women who readily volunteered to be mentors.
2008:
Capitalizing on the success of year one, Her Honor Mentoring eagerly added Mount Vernon High School to their roster, with a class of 18 mentees and 20 mentors.
2009:
Our program expanded to 3 partner schools to include White Plains High School, with a class of 30 mentees and 32 mentors.
2010:
Our program expanded to 5 partner schools to include Saunders Trades and Technical High School in Yonkers and Nelson Mandela High School in Mount Vernon, with a class of 38 mentees and 40 mentors.
2011:
Our program expanded to 6 partner schools to include Nellie A Thornton High School in Mount Vernon, with a class of 40 mentees and 42 mentors.
2012:
Our program expanded to 7 partner schools to include Gorton High School in Yonkers, with a class of 40 mentees and 44 mentors.
2013:
Our program included a class of 42 mentees and 44 mentors, selected from 7 partner schools.
2014:
Our program included 7 partner schools including Lincoln High School in Yonkers, with a class of 51 mentees and 53 mentors.
2015:
Our program included a class of 51 mentees and 53 mentors, selected from our 7 partner schools.
2016:
Our program included 8 partner schools, adding New Rochelle and Port Chester High Schools, with a class of 61 mentees and 65 mentors.
2017:
Our program included a class of 70 mentees and 80 mentors, selected from 7 partner schools.
2018:
Our program expanded to 9 partner schools, adding Harrison High Schools, with a class of 70 mentees and 80 mentors.
2019:
Our program expanded to 10 partner schools to include Sleepy Hollow High School, with a class of 76 mentees and 94 mentors, due to the popularity of co-mentoring relationships.
In the future, Her Honor Mentoring hopes to offer our program to additional high schools throughout Westchester County and beyond.
